Men’s Therapy in D.C.

Many men are used to pushing through. Whether it’s work pressure, family responsibilities, or the belief that you need to hold it all together, you might find yourself feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or disconnected—and unsure how to talk about it. Even when things look fine from the outside, it can be hard to feel settled on the inside. If you’ve been carrying stress, shutting down emotionally, or finding it harder to connect with the people in your life, therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect, and reset.

Common Reasons Men Seek Therapy

Therapy can be a place to explore what’s working in your life—and what isn’t—without judgment or pressure. I work with men in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who are looking to better understand themselves, strengthen relationships, and feel more at ease in their daily lives.

Some of the most common issues men bring to therapy include:

  • High stress, burnout, or difficulty slowing down

  • Irritability, emotional numbness, or low motivation

  • Relationship conflict or trouble with communication

  • Identity concerns or life transitions (e.g., fatherhood, career shifts, divorce)

  • Depression, anxiety, or difficulty expressing emotions

  • A sense of disconnection or emptiness, even when life looks “successful”

  • Struggles around masculinity, vulnerability, or emotional expression

Therapy That Respects Your Pace and Perspective

My approach to therapy is collaborative, down-to-earth, and tailored to your goals. I recognize that many men didn’t grow up being encouraged to talk about feelings—or may be used to solving problems quickly and privately. If you’re unsure how therapy works or what you would even say, that’s okay.

We’ll work together to create space for honest reflection, practical tools, and meaningful change. I’ll meet you with curiosity and care—not pressure or assumptions.

Over time, therapy can help you:

  • Get more clarity on what’s driving your stress, anger, or disconnection

  • Identify and shift patterns that no longer serve you

  • Learn to better understand and express emotions

  • Improve how you relate to partners, children, friends, and colleagues

  • Rebuild a sense of confidence, ease, and connection in your life

My Experience Working With Men

I’ve spent years helping men navigate a wide range of life experiences and emotional concerns. I work with men in early and middle adulthood—from those confronting long-standing emotional patterns to those navigating life transitions such as fatherhood, divorce, career shifts, or grief.

Some men I work with are processing experiences they’ve never talked about before. Others are feeling stuck or confused about why old ways of coping don’t seem to be working anymore. Some are successful on the outside but exhausted or empty on the inside. Others are trying to break generational cycles around masculinity, anger, and emotional avoidance.

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If you’re feeling burned out, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, we can work together to find clarity and direction.

Men’s Therapy in DC: What to Expect

Our work will be shaped by your goals, your values, and what feels most useful to you. I draw from a range of approaches—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based strategies—based on your needs and preferences.

While every man’s path is different, we might focus on:

  • Clarifying your core concerns and goals for therapy

  • Understanding the impact of family dynamics, early experiences, or cultural messaging

  • Practicing more effective ways of managing stress or responding to difficult emotions

  • Challenging perfectionism, avoidance, or people-pleasing patterns

  • Strengthening your ability to show up more authentically in your relationships

  • Reconnecting with purpose, meaning, or joy

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. We’ll adapt the work to fit where you are, and where you want to go.

Many men find therapy to be a surprisingly valuable space—one that helps them move from feeling stuck or reactive to feeling more grounded, connected, and self-aware. If you'd like to learn more about your options, message me to schedule a free 30-minute consultation.

Please note: I currently offer only remote therapy sessions.
